GDMF Board of directors

As a nonprofit organization, the Garrett Dunsmoor Memorial Foundation is run entirely by volunteers and governed by a Board of Directors. We are so grateful for the dedication of each of our board members.

 

MacKenzie Dunsmoor, President

MacKenzie is an Associate Creative Director at Partners + Napier in Rochester, NY. She previously worked at Huge, Inc. in Brooklyn, and Dentsu Creative in Manhattan and San Francisco. She graduated from S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University in 2015 with a degree in Graphic Design. In addition to creating advertising campaigns at Partners + Napier, MacKenzie plays an active role in DE+I efforts and organizes employee engagement events. She also mentors advertising professionals through talktoacreativedirector.com. MacKenzie is Garrett’s older sister and has served as a board member since the incorporation of the foundation in 2018.

 

Alyssa Auer Mitchell,
Vice President

Alyssa works in sourcing and procurement for Optum and relocated back to Oswego, NY in 2018. Prior to Optum; Alyssa has 12 years of supply chain experience in retail working for J.Crew in New York City and Syracuse University. She graduated from Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management in 2008 with a degree in Supply Chain Management and Marketing. Alyssa has two children; Pippa and Asher and owns local restaurant, Southern Fare, with her husband, Patrick Mitchell. Alyssa has been a family friend of the Dunsmoors for 25 years, has volunteered with the foundation since its inception and has served as a board member since 2023. 

 

Teresa Gentile,
Treasurer

Teresa is a retired Plant Controller from Spear USA, a manufacturing plant in Fulton, NY. She was employed there for 29 years and had varying roles both in Accounting and IT functions. She graduated from the State University of Oswego in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, as well as passing the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. She has been a close friend of the family for 20 years and has served as a board member and Treasurer since 2022.

 

Judith Queale-Dunsmoor,
Secretary

Judy is the president of Northeast Sports Source and the vice president of John Dunsmoor Farms, Inc. She grew up in Canandaigua, NY, and graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing.  She was an account executive for twenty years in the Footwear, Sportswear, and Sporting goods industries. Judy left the industry to help manage the New York Bold brand, farm office, and rental properties that she and John own. Judy served on the Oswego City School District Buccaneer Boosters Board for eight years and was the president for four years overseeing the successful campaign to save most of the OCSD sports slated to be eliminated from the school budget in 2017. Judy has served on the GDMF Board since 2018. Judy resides in Oswego with her husband John and is the proud mother of MacKenzie, Garrett and Dylan.

 

Brooke Tracz,
Board Member

Brooke is an Asset Manager for Smart Student Housing in Oswego, NY. Before that, she gained over ten years of experience working in event services. She graduated from Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in Economics in 2018. At SU she was the education chair of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. In her spare time, Brooke works with her husband, Brandon, on their Big Tasty Microgreens business — bringing fresh greens to the local community. Brooke is Garrett’s cousin and one of his closest friends. She has served as a Board Member since 2019 and was been Vice President of the Executive Committee from 2020-2024.

 

John Dunsmoor,
Board Member

John is the president of John Dunsmoor Farms and vice president of Northeast Sports Source. He was born in Oswego and graduated from OHS in 1982. John graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Physics. In addition to farming 300 acres of onions and soybeans, John helps manage rental properties that he and Judy own. John served on the Oswego City School District Board of Education for six consecutive years and was President for two years. Before that, he served on the Cornell Cooperative Extension Board of Directors. John has served on the GDMF Board since 2018. John resides in Oswego with his wife Judy and is the proud father of MacKenzie, Garrett, and Dylan.

 

Brian Warner,
Board Member

Brian is the Executive Director and co-owner of Warner Physical Therapy, a role he has held alongside his wife Amy for the past 19 years. He remains hands-on as a treating physical therapist within the practice. Graduating from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts with a degree in Physical Therapy, Brian brings over 25 years of experience to his profession. In addition to his work, Brian is deeply involved in his community in Oswego, NY. He has dedicated his time to coaching and organizing various youth sports, particularly basketball, for the past 20 years. Recently, Brian’s commitment to community service led to his appointment to the board of the Garrett Dunsmoor Foundation. He resides in Oswego with his family, where they actively contribute to the betterment of their local area through work and volunteering efforts.

 

Carrie Penoyer,
Board Member

Carrie Penoyer is a lifelong resident of Oswego County, growing up in Pulaski. She is a 1993 graduate of Sandy Creek Central School and 1997 graduate of Syracuse University and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Carrie spent over seven years as a television news reporter for WWNY-TV 7 in Watertown, NY, before trading in her microphone for a calculator. Carrie has spent the last 20+ years working as a financial advisor with Equitable Advisors. Carrie also volunteers her time with the Oswego Rotary Club acting as the Oswego High School Interact Club liaison. The Rotary Club is what first led her to the Garrett Dunsmoor Memorial Foundation, working hand in hand together on the club’s Christmas Giving Project. Carrie is also a board member with Integrated Community Planning. Carrie and her family live in Oswego.

 

Jamie Metcalf,
Board Member

Jamie is a retired Oswego City Court Judge. He graduated from Bishop Cunningham High School (1982), LeMoyne College (1986) and Syracuse University College of Law (1989). He was a partner at Sullivan & Metcalf, a Family Court Law Clerk, Judge Presiding of Oswego County Drug Treatment Court and a Supervising Judge.He has also served on the YMCA BoD, the Harborfest BoD and was a Trustee at St. Paul’s Church in Oswego. Jamie resides in Oswego with his wife Karen, has three adult children Katie, Jake and Mariah and a grandchild, Charlotte.

 

Ella O’Connor,
Student Representative

Ella O'Connor is a senior at Oswego High School. She has worked at The Mix Nutrition Club, Six Scoops Ice Cream and Canale's Restaurant. She's the Varsity volleyball team captain and President of both the Class of 2025 and the Spanish Club. Ella is also in National Honor Society. She's volunteered for many organizations in the community including Vacation Bible School at Christ the Good Shepherds, Young Life, Blessings in a Backpack, and for our own foundation for four years at the Annual Fall Fundraiser. In addition to being our student representative, Ella also participates on the Communications Committee.
